it has a 10" input shaft that is 10 spline, it has a dana 20 hooked to it. What would this have been bolted to?

Not enough info. A pic would help. Could be Jeep or IHC, though 10" stickout does not fit with any Jeep app that I know of.

If the transmission has no ears on it to bolt to a bellhousing but instead has holes drilled directly into the front face of the case then it most likely is from an IH Scout 2. They commonly used T-18's and T-19's and also commonly used the 4.02-1 close ratio trans so if you look at it make sure it has the ratio you want.

I'm not really in the market I just saw it in an add, I figured it came from a scout or possibly a commando, if that was an option. I sent the seller an email and asked what it was out of.
