It is actually better to leave the film of baking soda residue on the metal afterward till ready to do your body work, or paint. the film acts as a protective layer for preventing flash rust in high humidity. The only thing we do is blow the excess off. baking soda will not damage metal, vinegar is NOT NECESSARY.

here are the pics I told I would post>>>

THE FIRST ONE: this is a great example of SODABLASTING. Notice how it doesn't damage the metal, and leaves the bad rust there. This is good in two ways, you know it is there, and know how much to fix. Also, sodablasting dosn't remove metal, yep, its still just as thick as it was from the factory, not 1/32 thiner. In addition to that there is a less chance of warping the panels.

    OK SECOND PIC>>>

This is the mechine we use. We have 3 of these oversized presure washers which shoot media of all types at metal to remove paint. Using this mechine for sodablasting is a very wet job, just hope there's no cool breeze. Its refreashing to use however on those 100 degree days. Yes I know bare metal and water at the same time. Rust. But no the baking soda prevents rust to a point. After we finish with a pannel, we just let it air dry.
