I am thinking about changing over to a Offenhauser 4 barrel intake on my 225 I have a rebuilt Rochester 2 barrel carburetor on it now. One problem is there is no port for the heater water return on the new Offenhauser intake is this some thing that can be drilled in and tapped or is there some place else that the water return can be put? Also this is the carburetor that I would like to put no it. I am not up on the CFM for the 225 and would a new cam be needed if I did this change also. I need some help here. Thanks Guys any input would be very helpful Thanks Much

I'll have to look at mine for the heater return port (got the Kenne Bell installed right now).

Look up the TA 470's for the Carbs - several of us here use them.

Ive had a lot of trouble running a 4 barrel carb. on my 225. I have a offy intake and a 390 which is crap in my opinion. I think I'll either run a stock 2 barrel or try to figure out fuel injection on my next project. Some have had good luck with the truck avenger hopefully they will chime in.

The Carburetor that I picked out and matched to the 225 is Truck Avenger, 470 cfm, Square Bore, 4-Barrel, Single Inlet, Dichromate is this the same as the TA 470's????

    TA 470 = Truck Avenger 470cfm

I've run one for a couple years on recommendation of Warloch, love it. It's big for the 225 and so therefore takes some learning curve and patience getting it tuned the first time, but once you know it inside and out, it's a pleasure to work on and use.

I'm running a Holley 470 Truck Avenger, Offenhauser 360, Comp Cams 252H, GM HEI, milled/ported heads and headers.

There are plenty of threads on this subject; grab a mug of frosty beverage and do a search.

FWIW, my Dad runs the Offy and a Holley 390. After he got it tuned, it runs flawlessly.

Oops I meant the 390, the offy is a great manifold. I've tried a lot of diff. things but always seam to get a big hesitation when I floor it among other things.

I think I'm going to do fuel injection next, just to do it, but I've often wondered how a 390 main body might run with all the Truck Avenger bells and whistles. Wouldn't be hard to convert one over.

What's the TA got? I know Dad put the spring loaded needle and seats, secondary metering(jettable) plate, float bowl windows, quick change acc. pump housing etc. in his 390.

The Offy sitting in the garage has a heater hose port in the front and back of the manifold. It's for a 231 but wouldn't imagine they'd be that different. I know cause bought it used and had a heck of a time getting the fitting out of the front of the manifold to replace the pitted one that was in there.

Its been a while since i verified them but there should be the one off the T-stat housing where it reads "dual port",one on the top side front right side (as veiwing the pic),and another on the left side that also has an opening out the front as seen just left of the Offenhauser name.I cant remember if there is one in the back,I can check tonight when I get home if you would like.

That's the same one Dad has. 4 ports, none on the back IIRC.
