Does anyone know of a source for the "wheel studs" for upgrading the spindle to cast iron knuckle attachment on the Dana 27 front axle.

It is covered in great detail on Vernco's excellent website and I even have a Spicer 6-8124847 & Mopar J8124847 part numbers for these studs.

I've called around and can't seem to locate anyone who can get me some.

Joe check w/ Jim Johnson. He may know a local place to find them. I got my last set from him via this board.

    Welcome back.

they are the same as d30 studs so you should be able to find them anywhere. i believe the #s have changed many times over the years.

Mike: thanks, yes they do have them. At $5.95 each I don't think I'll be doing six each side. But then tearing it down for one or two dosen't sound to wise either. Hummm....

Dan: whats wrong with nice painted knuckles? I even painted mine on the inside. :D

IIRC, I ended up doing 4 per side, as the 9:00 and 3:00 positions caused interference between the knuckle and ball end.

Compared to the cost of rebuilding the rest of the front end, this was still a cheap upgrade.

They might be the same as a D30 stud, but every parts place wants an application, and I could never find one I was sure of.

Wilsons4x4 wanted $3.32. Of course, when I called Six States their computer was down, so maybe I got an unintended discount.

If you are doing a disc upgrade and the spindle studs, the cheapest easiest upgrade is to swap in a Dana 30 R)R)

...and the tires hang further out of the fenders in front. No biggie for a rockcrawler, but some of us have to abide by state inspection laws. (That and I've never been a big fan of fender flares!) ;)

Heck i'm not running flares, and you almost can't even tell the extra 1" on each side. Just get front rims with 1" less offset

How did this topic get so out of hand  sorry I helped contribute.

If they are the same as D-30 studs, I bought them at Mile High Jeep Rebuilders here in Denver for about $1.25 each
