I am looking for dimentions for the CJ3a gas tank filler to the bakc of the tank distance. AND looking for distanes for the filler plate to know where it is positioned on the tub. The gas tank neck is not centered in my filler plate, and i am curious to know if the PO messed up installing the filler cover or the gas tank is not correct for the CJ3a.

    Thanks!

on my 53 3a the back of the filler tube is 2 3/4" from the back lip of the tank.

The filler plate front edge is 11 1/4" from the front seam on the tub.

Let me know if you need anything else the jeep is sitting about 20 feet from me

Thanks. Can you take a pic of the seam you are talking about? This is a fiberglass tub and i have no seam to speak of. But my tank is a CJ3a tank, that measures up, i think they either cut the hole incorrect, or they nuilt the ybub at the factory different, because the tank is against the part on the floor that comes up.

I have seen several aftermarket tanks that the filler neck was not in the right place. One was off 2 inches.

I can send you all the pics you want/need but currently having issues posting the pics on here due to "wrong format"

I will play with loading the pics on here for a bit but PM me if you want to give me a email address to send them to.

Dan make sure you have a Flatty tank and not a CJ tank. The flatty tank comes straight out towards the side while the CJ tank angles towards the back of the tub. Other than that and possibly some fitting differences they look identical other than this.

That is odd, i nveer noticed the filler neck on my CJ5 angled to the back, could have but never noticed it. I will have to get a picture of my filler location,
