I've read that the model 18 low gear can be used in a model 20. Has anyone actually done this? Tried a couple of searches in various places and got no real help from it. Any pitfalls or problems I should look out for?
    Thanks a mint.

    The Trick

Getting D18 parts is no problem (getting them cheap or free is tough). But the real trick is getting the Bronco gear. I have a D20 out of a scout, the D18 gearset and the Bronco gear. If I don't get to it this summer, and you are still interested I'll sell the stuff. With my T18 tranny, I'm around 85:1 right now.

Thanks for the replys guys. I've got extra Jeep D20's and D18's. Its the Bronco gear that will be my big issue. I have a friend with a Scout D300 with a 2.6 something low gear that he wants to sell so he can buy the OD parts he needs. I may go that route instead if I can't find the Bronco gear.

The Bronco gear can be purchased new or recycled. Don't know the contact info of the manufacturer, but it was posted here a while ago. Much cheaper than the Tera gears IIRC.

The 300 would be a great choice. It can be regeared to 4:1.

I've got that setup that I bought from Hicks 4x4 about 10 years ago.
I posted earlier about what happened to Hicks because a friend wanted that setup. He went with a 3.15:1 gear set from some group in Utah, well known name that slips my mind at the moment.

I believe O'briens (Jack O'brien) was the one making new Bronco gears. Someone else posted it so may they have the #. You might do a search on it as it's been covered a couple of times. Hopefully it's still archived somewhere. Nickmil.
