posi or locker?

did the d44 and d25 come with limited slip posi locker or open diff?

They normally came with open diffs but Powerlock limited Slips were available for the 44, 25, 27, and 30. later Trac-lock Limited slips were available (for the 44). Lockers were never available in Jeeps from the factory. It's possible Detroit may have been available from the dealer for the 44 but I've never heard of this for Jeep vehicles. I know Fords, Internationals, Dodges, and GM's had them available.

 

I wasn't sure and haven't had time to open the up yet. I have a feeling somebody welded the spyder gears on one of my d44's

The powr-loc is listed in the 1966 brochure and some of the M38A1 USMC jeeps got the Powr-Loc through production in the 50's and 60's.

Look for two tags under the diff cover bolts. If they are still there, one tag will show your ratio. On diffs that had the Powr-Loc there should be a tag with a "T".
