I am probably going to make a swing out tire setup for my 4runner. I already have a bumper made for it, i am going to just add the swing out part. This time around instead of the spindle and bearing setup i am going to a double shear setup. My question is i am going to use a poly spring bushing inside the tube at the joint. Will the bushing be a poor choice for this because of the weight of the tire? How much sag should i expect? The swing out portion is going to be offset and the arm is going to be relatively short. Can somebody chime in about using the poly bushing.

This is the arm on the face of the bumper. The red is the poly bushings.

    Thanks

There will be a surprising amount of flex and give in the poly bushing allowing a fair amount of sag. That's why most people go with bearings. You could also use oillite bushings, but bearings would be easy and adjustable and easily lubed if set up right. No sag either.

I know Rubber bushings would flex like mad, i have a set of brand new poly bushings left over from the samurai. You know I am curious now. Instead of using the large taper bearings that fit inside the tube. What about those thrust bearings you can get that look like a washer with little rollers on it? Not sure how durable they are, and it is not like the tire carrier gets opened that often, but if i weld caps on the end of the pipe i am useing for a pivot and slip the thrust bearings between the pipe and the outer ears of the mount, i would think it would allow me to open the amr pretty easy. BUT not sure if the twisting of the tire on the arm will squish th ebearing, or if it would be fine.

Don't bother using poly bushings the weight of the tire swinging off it makes it want to dig in. It will also sag badly. I built one like that when I was in college and didn't have the $$$ for a nice spindle/bearing setup. It sucked to the point I ended up taking it off and not using it.
