Hey guys my dauntless has been burning large amounts of oil ( 10 qrts from home to canfield yesterday). I know its becasue of bad rings, so i was wondering if anyone has replaced rings on a dauntless before.and if so how difficult is it to do?

Just as easy as any other engine. Take your time and check all clearances closely. Make sure you measure the bores to check if the block needs boring and new pistons. If that's ok check the ring groove clearances closely. it's common for the ring lands to wear on these motors. Check the crank closely for wear and it would be good to check the cam bearings closely as well. Check the oil pump housing for wear and all clearances there. Basically, just changing the rings would be a band aid or short term repair IMHO. I'd say it's time for a rebuild. The heads should be checked for valve guide and valve stem wear and the seats and valve faces should be checked as well. I think you'll find more problems than just rings once you get in there so be prepared.....
