E brake cable removal

    How do you remove the e brake cable from the backing plate. Opened my rear brake to see why the e brake was not working and found what you see in the pic. It's a mess in there, but I can not figure out how to remove it for replacement.

    I'm beginning to really hate this jeep. Every single part ever needed is always some special order deal where you have to wait a week to get it. This is getting really old.

    The fingers are spring loaded and expand after being pushed into the backing plate. You can use a small hose clamp around the fingers to compress them and push them back through the hole.

    Thanks nickmil, I would have never figured that one out. It has probably been a good 30 years since I've messed with drum brakes, I had forgotten what a true horror it is.
