I have read dozens of speedo gear threads on the forum prior to posting... so if I missed it.... maybe I will have better luck searching next time.

    Backgroud:
    1969 CJ5 225 with D18

I am rebuilding the tcase and have a speedo gear that has seen better days (Pic 1).

I purchased a new one from Krage and it is a little different (Pic 2).

The new one from Krage has a 1/4" space with no teeth... the one I removed (Pic 1) does not have that same space.

Will it work and does it matter which way it goes on the shaft? The dry fits I have done it appears not to matter but I don't want to get the thing back in the jeep and find out I got it wrong.

FYI... there are detailed photos of the entire case in the "Builds" section of the forum.
