    Hello Folks
I have a 1955 CJ 5 fully restored back to factory and better.
I have about 11,000 invested in the rebuild and I am thinking of selling the Jeep.
But I was wondering what you folks thought about a fair price for it.
There is nothing to be done just get in and drive.
So what do you folks think for a price?
I hate to sell but I just have to many toys and I am going to try to sell the Jeep plus my 1971 MG Midget
    Thanks all
    Jason

Factory and better? What does that mean?

CJs are more similar to pickup trucks than cars in pricing. What's a '55 Dodge or Studebaker pickup worth, even in prime condition? Also, they are not very practical for most people, considering their drawbacks when operated on the highway.

If it's factory condition, original paint, low miles, turnkey condition, I'd guess somewhere between $5000 and $10000, depending on the buyer and venue. It's got to be really nice to fetch that kind of money though - most aren't. As always, it's worth what someone will pay for it.

Jeeps suck money in, they never return it in any great quantities.

Sorry, but that's the law of the jeep gods.................

I'd say it's worth between 6 and 8K to me.

Rarely are ANY vehicles worth what you put in them to restore them, unless it is a truly rare vehicle.

You usually will not get as much from a brand specific board member as you might from an Evilbay or Craigslist sale, where people are not aware of current values. It will always be worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. Speculators will always try to get high price on a vehicle, rare or not. :(

Not long ago, restored "common" cars from the 20's (like Model As) were popular and pricy, mostly because the folks who remembered them from childhood had disposable income to spend on a rememberance of childhood. Now a nice Model A can be had pretty cheaply.

Now, it is muscle cars and others from the hot car era. When baby boomers begin to slide off the scale of age, most of these cars will decline in price, except for the truly rare ones. Prices are artificially high right now, I see cars that are common and junky going for absurd prices. This price spike has caused some folks to wander off into fringe vehicles from the 60s & 70s, like CJs. Hopefully, this will not cause speculators to enter into our hobby.

The announcements section clearly states it's not for Jeep discussion. This should either be here in tech, there's a sticky post here that tells you how to determine the value of your Jeep, or in OT if you prefer. But not in the announcements section.

    I've got a 1961 3 bedroom, 2 bath house, 1600sf.
It's a ranch style, single story, attached garage with heating and a/c.
Landscaped yards, auto sprinklers, no pool.
Newer roof, with last years paint.
I've got about 300k in it, but it's better than new.
I hate to sell, but it's time to move on to another home.
What's it worth and what's a fair asking price ?

not making fun, but you see how difficult it is without pics and tons of info !

Another thing to think about is location. A Jeep that is in Seattle, Washington seems to bring much more than the same Jeep in Portland, OR despite only being a couple of hundred miles away. I see Jeeps going for $500 to $1,000 in the Midwest or in the East that could bring double that here in Oregon. Again, without more specific information and detailed photo's your questions are impossible to accurately answer..... Best of luck. Nickmil
