dana 18/20

I am fairly new to this but are all parts interchangable between the dana 18 and 20. I am looking for a shift rod ( long one), but can not find one anywhere. Has anybody laying some araound.

 

Some parts are and some aren't. On the end of the shift rail is stamped a #. You can match what you need with that #. There are two possible sets of shift rails for the 18 depending on whether it is a single stick or twin stick. The 20's have at least 5 different sets that I'm aware of.....
What transfer case are you working with? More info in that direction would get you more help. If you are working on a twin stick 18 I have some shift rails laying around. Nickmil

 

It's a Dana 18 Single stick. After replacing all the seals, bearings etc I can only shift it into 4wd low and neutral. I seems that the shift rod slipped out of the back and won't go back in. I'll open the buttom tomorrow and check that. I also noticed that the rodhas a slight chamfer on the end.
