:( So there I was removing my old, rotten rear cross member to install the big beefy one I fabbed up and realized my body bushing weren't attached to anything! I'm in desperate need of some pics of what the body mounts are "supposed" to look like. My frame ends are in pretty bad shape also but I can take care of that easy enough. Looks like I'm probably going to end up re-skining the whole back side, tailgate and all. I think I'm going to go with some nice 1/8 inch steel. I work in a fab shop so it should be fairly simple.I'll be postin pics of the progress. Right now though I would really appreciate some pics of where the body bushings mount into the body. Anyone have to deal with this before? If so, how did you fix it.Thanx in advance. Oh yeah...it's a '78 CJ5.:smash: Sam

don't have a link handy but Classic Enterprises reproduces the rear mounts

they sell the back panel pieces as well.

So...here's some pics of the rot I'm dealin with. Where to start?? I'm sure some of you have seen worse. I suppose it could be much worse, still a bit of good metal.hahaha. I plan on replacing frame about 8" up. Everything seems good from 6" forward.

That's a very common site for rust. The original body mounts were stamped sheet metal that had a hollow in them for re-inforcement. Jeep put a weep-hole in the bottom, but they get plugged and then water sits in the hollow between the body and the mount. I made my own rear mounts out of angle iron and only put 2 on instead of 4. I'd advise against buy replica mounts as you will certainly have the same problem again with them eventually. I through bolted the angle to the body with stainless bolts after re-inforcing the rear with diamond plate.

Yea Posi I'm definitely goin to be fabbing up my own. I think I will build them into the new skins I'm gonna build that will wrap the entire rear section of the tub. Heres what I've done to fix the rotten frame.

I removed the stock metal so I could build a custom bumper/snatch points, in the pick you can see behind the bumper is a C channel w/ 3/4" turns attached to the frame ends....maybe something like that would work?
