dana 18 to 20 case

    I'm in the process of swaping in the 3.15 low gears into the the 20 case but retaining the dbbl. offset of the 18. I don't have all the pcs. apart yet, but can you use the 20 front output shaft housing or do you have to stick to the 18?

    I think I like the 20's way to mount to the crossmember (2 bolts to be able to fab up one) better than the 18's and/or how many ways are there to mount the Tfercase? I think I saw one that used the OUTput side of the case on a 20 (could have been the angle)???

    Nope. You have to use the 18 output housing as the way the bearings and shafts fit are totally different. Otherwise you could just use 18 parts to twin stick a 20. But it just don't work that way..... Nickmil

    NUTS, I was afraid of that, I guess that the little foot on the 18 is the only way to mount it??? Or have there been creative ways to stabilize the 'fercase?

    the little foot you refer to is the anti-torque mount. the dana 18/20 don't have any mounts that I'm aware of, as they are bolted to the tranny and the tranny is bolted to the crossmember.

    The 18 front housing has a cast in mount that sticks out at an angle on the right side (passenger side) that acts as an anti torque mount. There is a donut style rubber mount that goes between this foot and the crossmember. That is what he's referring to. Nickmil
