Bolt on the rear driveshaft, grease the u-joints, check and torque all the bolts/nuts, fill the T90/D18 with gear oil, connect the battery and fire the ol' girl up. If everything works, I'll take her around the block a few times. Make sure everything shifts and I still have all my gears. If everything checks out and nothing is leaking, I'll bolt the floor boards back in, stick the sides/top back on her and I'll have my Jeep back!

Anything I should know about driving a freshly rebuilt T90/D18 for the first time? Take it slow, work the gears, don't work the gears? Run it up in first and second? Don't run it up? Any advise? If everything works, I'll drive it for a week or so then change the gear oil.

I'm excited. I might have my toy working again today!

Rev it up and dump the clutch....if it holds together its working fine :D Honestly just make sure its got fluid in it and have at it...afaik there is no break in procedure like with a rear end.

I can't believe it! The durn thing worked!! LoL....Backed slowly down the driveway, pulled forward, backward a couple more times, then took off down the street! The durn thing works!! Kind of milked it around the neighborhood for a little while, then started adding power, upshifts, downshifts, gear to slow down, get some RPM's on it etc....I can't believe it! The durn thing worked!!!... Put the floor back in and put the top back on it, going to drive it to work tomorrow.

I did have a few problems with a couple of things though. Turns out I have a u-joint in backwards and can't get it greased. Also, noticed that the big bolt with the rubber bushing that bolts the cross member to the transfer case isn't tight and is kind of tweaked to the side a little bit. Need to do some adjusting I guess.

But anyway...this is by and far the most "mechanical" thing I've ever done. And certainly the most in depth thing I've done on the jeep. Now, if it just holds together!! R)R)

Congrats on the successful overhaul! And what a beuatiful day for the first drive. For those of you outside of the central midwest, we hit 60 degrees today after over 2 weeks of near freezing temps and snow left over from before Christmas. :)

Congrats!!!! We had the nice day for a test drive here yesterday, we woke up to 25 degrees and 4 inches of snow in 3 hours here...... Just cranked the heater up and worked to getting closer to my day of break-in you had today. Congrats again.

Congrats! after about 500 miles or so dump the oil in the trans and transfer case and put in fresh. No matter how clean you are and how much you clean the parts there is always gunk leftover and particles from the new parts "wearing in"....
No special break-in procedures. Sometimes a fresh transmission is a little "tight" shifting and will usually wear in with use. Nickmil
