I have my filler mounted on the side now I'm having trouble finding the 1" & 3/4 " hoses. I tried my local hydraulic hose co. like Boyink suggested and he said he didn't have or couldn't order it (I only need 2ft of each). All the parts stores don't carry it. One said he can order it but I would have to buy the whole roll 25ft each. I've had no luck on the internet only one guy on ebay and I don't play that game. The pre-bent ones are not long enough I bought those before I decided to move it to the side. Please help I already cut in the hole and mounted it on the side.

If you already have some hoses, just splice two of the hoses together.Just add a splice between the two.You could use a piece of tailpipe and hose clamps for the splice.

lowes n home depot usually have a large selection of tubing by the foot - other wise if you are handy with making your own brake lines, add "Fule lines" and it is the same thing just different diamitor

The local NAPA here has been good about selling all kinds of hose in 1' increments, I will stop by after work just for fun and see if they have any fuel rated / multipurpose stuff that size

Clay is after fuel fill hoses - not fuel delivery lines from the tank to the motor.

I'd be surprised if NAPA had anything as well - when I checked anything in the 1" size was just vaccum hose, not fuel-rated. I never tried vaccum hose but was told it would swell over time using it for gas.

I'd be looking for another hydraulic place - any other options around or a bigger town close by? I've been able to buy the hose twice from those types of businesses, in different towns each time.

Marine supply? My boat uses 1.5 inch from the gas fill and I got that at a marina.

Thanks Boyink. I called them and they only sell full rolls and have a $50.00 min. The sales guy is looking around to see if he can find some way to help me out I'll let you know what happens. After that I'm thinking about calling MTS where I got the tank and seeing what they have.

Yeah, over-the-road trucks use this stuff, as do boats.

The Boston area business-to-business yellow pages might help. I found a few possibles under "Marine Equipment; Supplies and Repair". Try www.bostonhydraulic.com - even if they don't have it, they might know of a source.

Well it runs without the umbilical cord of a gas can sitting on the floor:). It's kind of strange starting it with out sticking a line onto a gas can on the floor. The next step on starting that I can't fathom is turning a key and not having to hot wire it to start. I will relish this accomplishment for the moment. As I'm typing this my new seats just arrived so on to the next project but that will be a few weeks before I start that I need to get to the studio. plus I'm sure I'll have some questions first like are slides really necessary:?? Thanks all

My stock '57 CJ-5 uses the key to turn on the ignition and a foot switch on the transmission tunnel to turn over the starter. Is this maybe the problem you are having, the ignition switch won't turn over the engine?

I think he means that he has to hot wire currently, and a real key-switch will be the next milestone.

Glad you got it sorted out. Progress!

Slides? Do you mean rock sliders? like on the rocker panels?

No, they're not usually needed due to the short wheel base. I always planned on adding them but after wheeling for a few years I now know I don't need 'em.

I still might make some someday but on the other hand, sometimes less is more . . . .

I'm going to sort of disagree here. If you like the rock (rock sliders) they are a very good idea. For general trail use, you can get away without them but very useful that one time.
Now the sliders I would recommend would fit right behind the seat backs around the tub corners, welded/bolted to the rollcage just above the body. The rig always seems to "rock" over and into trees top first, tree wells in snow are really bad. The sliders will help keep the tub top from damage.
Make them removable if you use a top.
