Sparky is headed down to Hutch this weekend and help me reassemble and install my T90/18. Besides a couple of gallons of gear oil, what will we need for grease? Just a little tub for the roller bearing? The D18 has been rebuilt and my T90 is spread out (in an organized fashion) with all the new parts. I was planning on running the liquor and parts stores tonight to pick up needed supplies for this weekend. Just want to make sure I'll have everything I need.

What else do I need? :)

i used high temp wheel bearing grease (blue color), but any kind will work. if money alows, a bearing packer (plastic tub that squeezes in vice to pack bearings) is worth it.

Now, grease is for the wheel bearings, not for the transmission. The transmission and transfer case bearings are lubricated by the gear oil.

Vaseline is good to keep the rollers in place during assembly. It'll dissolve in the gear oil quickly. I wouldn't use wheel bearing grease for this.

Vaseline and Beer - but be careful with the combination. ;)

Make sure you have enough RTV or seal of choice for putting things together.

What they said. DO NOT USE GREASE TO ASSEMBLE THE ROLLERS. It plugs up the oil passages and does not mix readily with the gear oil and can actually starve the bearings of oil. Seen it more times than I care to think about. Use Vaseline...., and beer, and liquor, but keep Sparky away from the vaseline if he gets into the liquor....R) (sorry Sparky, couldn't resist...R))
