    Hey guys,

Got my fans yesterday and decided to try and get them installed tonight after work. It went fairly well, had to wrestle with the radiator some. Had the same problem when I put the shroud on a couple of years ago. It sure doesn't sit in there level, but there aren't any other holes that line up. I found that clearance was very tight with the water pump pulley and the fan assembly. I would say 1/2 inch or less once everything was tightened down. The wiring is pretty straight forward, I didn't wire in a manual switch, but it looks simple to do in the future. I have it now set to come on just above 180*. Is that warm enough?

Here's some pics of the finished product.

Nice! I'd set the fan to come on at about 185-190 depending on what thermostat you have in there. Needs to be a balance between the temp the fans operate and the thermostat opens. May have to play a little bit to find the balance.
Are those the fans that are supposed to be a direct bolt up? I've been thinking about those for the '6 as I'm using a '72-'75 grill with a GM conversion radiator. Where'd you get them and what was cost? Nickmil

They are a direct fit set up. I have been looking at them for a while, but at nearly 400 bucks I always shyed away. I found them online from Flexilite as a remanufactured part for 200 bucks. I guess it's no worse than buying used parts. Not sure what I was looking for on Ebay, but that is where I found them.

I have a 180* thermostat in there now. I think it needs to be replaced as at 150 degrees it was open already because the rad was getting warm. I might have to change that before winter sets in.

Cool, thanks for the info. I was curious cause $400 is more than I wanted to spend also but really like the fan set up. I'll dig around and see what prices I can find. If your thermostat is opening at 150* that's too early. A 180* should start opening about 180*, maybe 185*, cause it's trying to maintain 180* average and you'll have cooler coolant entering the engine as it opens. Nickmil

Yeah, that's what I figured. I just replaced it 1.5 years ago. Can't believe it went bad that quickly.

Next project, then I plan to tackle the EFI install
