Looking to purchase a tube bender for work shop to bend large steel hydraulic lines. Also as a added bonus, would be nice to bend tube for roll bars and cages. What is recommended for bending rollbar - DOM tubing?

We use a protools 105 with a air over hydraulic pump at work. It works well with any .120 wall DOM tubing. Havnt used it on much thicker than that though.

I'd recommend DOM tubing as it's strong as a structural material. Might do a search as it's been covered exhaustively. I also use a Pro-tools bender but it's still manual. I really like it.
I've heard good things about the JD-2 benders also but never used one. Nickmil

Plan on using DOM but need a bender that can go from say 1/2" mild steel to 3" via different dies.

If your interested, www.gottrikes.com has several DIY plans to build them. Looking at the price of quality benders, this is one way to save some $$$... The steel and air/ hydraulic rams are relatively inexpensive; it's the dies that can cost some serious cash.

I have the Pro-Tools Bender, and the plans from the gottrikes for a Hydrolic conversion. Pro-Tools also has plans for a free hydro with thier dies.

Looked at the benders from JD and talked to them. Looks good but holy cow the die prices!
