1 5/16" is what I used last night on the 27 I was working on. 18, 20, 300, Dana 25, 30, and 44 all use the same socket. Nickmil

FWIW on a couple of axles Ive rebuilt the rebuild kit did come with a diff. size pinion nut....so it is possible that some of them have been changed b/c of that

DOH! Everyone was right, it is 1 1/8". Sorry about any confusion. Some early Dana 18's and diffs used a 1 1/4" like Neptco said. Those were the old style shafts and nuts on the 18 that used a cotter pin for retention. Some of the early diffs used the 1 1/4" nut that looked like a castellated nut but was actually a friction (pinch style) lock nut. The vast majority uses the 1 1/8". Again, sorry for any confusion. Too tired I guess. Nickmil
