The clutch on my '69 225 has been smooth as silk until a couple of days ago. Now it is getting harder to depress to shift. It seems like it is sticking or dragging. Any thoughts? Replace the cable? Thanks!

If it's anything like mine it makes a huge difference if you grease the pivot points. Especially the ball studs that stick out from the t-case and the frame. You have to pull that cross shaft down to do it but it's worth the time. I ended up putting in a zerk on the cross shaft so I can just pump grease in without taking it apart. YMMV

inspect the cable housing for holes in the cover which would lead to rusted areas on the cable, check the ends for fraying and broken strands. if either of these two conditions exist, replace the cable. if not, remove the cable and work some grease into the housing to lube and see if that helps. if it does not you may have a bent or damaged release lever.

x2 on the idea of adding zerts fittings to the clutch pivot points.

I'm going to be doing that this weekend, actually on my '57.
