Superjeeps are cool...they make me think of Evel Knevil. If it was mine, I'd restore it. They're rare enough that I think it's worth saving it...even more so given the condition of it. The graphics are kind of over the top, but for me that's a good thing :).

Hey, flat black was one of my top picks! OD green is cool, too. As it desert tan. Battleship gray I like. Skinny tires like 32x9.50 TSLs, steel wheels in either color (black or white, "shiny" is not a legitimate wheel color). Blackwalls. I'm a simple man with simple tastes. Refer back to the scoot: Crinkle black with a $400 paintjob of leftover Dodge red. If it doesn't go fast or keep it from rusting when I ride in the rain I'm not into it. Yeah, the ginormous aircleaner wears a hole in my knee, and the Supertrapp burns the hems off my jeans, but it runs like a raped ape with extra stink.

I'll have time to think on it. Don't plan to do any painting this year. I want to get it resprung, check out the brakes, get some new meats, and get on the road. First I need an engine. Mine has a burned valve and puts a lot of oil down the tailpipe but I found another 304 locally that supposedly ran good when it was pulled (didn't they all).

On the one hand, the SuperJeep seemed to mostly be a stripe package so IMHO there's no huge loss to world history if it got repainted w/o the stripes.

OTOH, how many plain jane old Jeeps are there out there already. If it were me I'd do the SuperJeep stripes but over a white base instead.

But if the "glam factor" is too high...you could always go back to the white steelies it apparently came with:

Chilly I am a big fan of "build it the way you want to its yours". When I started to modify my 3b I was berated by some purists on another site so I came over here and started learning "how to's" for mods.

    That being said...............................

I would have to agree with some of the folks that this is a unusual piece of Jeep history and it needs to be preserved.
My CJ6 was a US Forest Service vehicle and while I am not a fan of USFS green I will eventually restore it to its original close to factory condition. This is only because it is an unusual piece of history also.
Trust me the temptation to slap fuel injection on the 304 with Auto and Dana 300 with Waggy axles and 37" tires is right there all the time but I have the 3b that I can use to control those urges. You may want to get another rough trail project jeep.
I would suggest that you drive it for now and do not do any mods that can not be easily reversed and drive it. You may get to like the color and sticker option after people constantly ask you "What kinda jeep is that" while you are driving it. That is fun part of something rare or unusual is you get to educate people about them and its fun being different.

I love the SuperJeep, decals and all. It has character and a uniqueness about it. People will know the age of the vehicle just by its style, and I think that makes it cool.

Call it a slippery slope, mission creep, obsessive-compulsive disorder, but the gas tank had a leak and I couldn't get it out from below. Needing to replace body bushings anyhow, I figured I'd just lift the tub. And once the tub was raised high enough to get the tank out I noticed I could roll the chassis out too. Which is cool because I need to change the engine (and of course you change the clutch when you pull the engine, right?). So now I'm looking at a bare nekkid chassis. How can I NOT blast and paint it? And I thought I was going to drive it this summer.

Another neat detail: the tag on the diff cover reads 3-73 indicating date of rear end mfg I gather (other numbers indicate gear count, which are coincidentally 3.73 gears with an open carrier).

Pics to follow. It's now wearing 32x10.5 swamper TSL radials with 2.5" lift. Natcho, but not overstated.
