I am able to get a 1960 Willis CJ5 from a guy in my area for $200. Two years ago the JEEP ran according to the owner, but I don't expect much from this one. The pictures are all I have to go by at this point and I am sure it is in pretty bad shape. It would be a good parts JEEP right? My knowledge is limited to the '70 that I have so I don't know much about this thing. Obviously though, most of the parts are interchangeable and I can see a few things in the pictures that would go well on the R1. I am a little worried I am going to fall in love with every dent in its body though and want to get it into driving order along with the R1. I am very easily consumed by the JEEP thing! What do you guys think?

It's a complete JEEP for $200 and you're wasting your time by posting? :?

This site ain't gonna help you much with the jeep thing, either. R)

BUY IT!!! Don't even stop to consider it, just buy it! Worry about the details later.

Can't never have too many Jeeps, and that looks like it's saveable. Dang sure more than $200 worth of parts on it, and you can always resell it if you want. Most important thing is to save it from the crusher or scrapyard!!! Or even worse, some kid that'll hack it up to make a rockcrawler out of.

At least that's my opinion, it needs to be saved just because it's a Willys and it's in decent shape.

get it. not too many older CJs left in your neck of the woods I imagine. with the price of scrap so high, we need to save all of them that we can.

if nothing else, I will be in Lake Charles in about a month and I will pay you $300 for it sight unseen, if you don't want it.

The tow bar alone could be worth 200, and if you find it's not worth rebuilding. You will definitely have a lot of money in parts, like it was said before, stopped reading the Post's and just go get it

The w/s hinges alone would net you 1/2 that money back.

I'm a sucker for an old pile like that. When it comes to old Jeeps, I just don't think there is such a thing as a "parts rig"...just projects that need more work R) . For the money, you can't go wrong. It's actually a lot of fun beating around in a rig like that...as long as it goes and stops, it's a driver :) . Worry about the rest later. If you want it to look a little nicer (and give it minor rust protection) shoot a coat of primer on it. You'd be surprises how much better it looks.

Actually, I sold a used upper set for 175.00 on eBay. I needed to fund my venting windshield, which the sale did. So, I can also attest to this fact. I'd buy it in a heartbeat if I had the space and time and was offered to me.
