foldout windshield on cj3b

i have a cj3b with a fold out windshield.does anyone know where i can get the rubber from or will the rubber from a low hood be the same?i have never seen one with this type of windshield except in pictures

 

Never heard of one of those, that might be a hard gasket to track down. You might have to take a piece of it to your local windshield and auto speciality places. There's a place here in Denver called BD Company, they have that kind of stuff.

Seems like I heard of that windshield on the 3b site.
Was requested by foriegn military maybe, something like that.

 

Well, yeah! There ya go! That's the place to go asking, the CJ3B site! But I don't have a link handy, just Google CJ3B, you'll find it.

 

There were some tilt out windshields for the 3b, I've seen two of them but are more rare than the ones for Early 5's. I'd definitely check out the 3b web site and ask there. Debella's might have something....... I'd think one from a 2a would work but would definitely do a comparison first. Nickmil

Sounds like that might be a hard seal to track down. Might want to try a regular auto body store and see what they have that might work.

 

I understand that the inner windshield frame and seal are very similar between the CJ-3B and the CJ-5 for these flip-out windshields. I swear I'm not making that up, but I can't remember where I got that information; it may have been here.

 

thanks to all.i had forgotten about some early cj5s having the fold out type.i will check with all the sources everone has mentioned. rondog,i may take you up on your offer in the future if i come up dry on the other places.by the way the measuments on the windshield glass retaining metal channel are 49 inches by 13 inches. thanks again to all.

 

Just let me know, it's not out of my way, and I've been wanting to go in there anyway. I drive by it often, just usually in a hurry.

 

Here is a cross section piece of my inner frame on my CJ5 foldout. That should give you a comparison. Match it up to yours and see if it is similar. Pete Debella still had some for the CJ5 foldout. I remember reading about the CJ3B being the same gasket somewhere as well.

dan stew,it does not have a top, i am going to make a half soft top like the one currently on my cj5.

 

sounds like you have a M606 (military type cj3b) they came with the fold out windshield. I would say you should have luck @ the military vehicle site. (cant remember the name) just do a search on goggle and you should find it! also, you can get a hold of border parts in San Diego and he should know where to get it!

Did you ever get your seal? Pete Debella does have them. I have a CJ5 venting windshield frame and the seal I received from Pete was too small. Using your measurements from this post I did indeed get a 3B seal. Apparantly, they are the same seal just 9" longer for the CJ5 frame. Pete is checking his inventory within the next couple of days to measure them and separate as need be.
