Well, the passenger side steering knuckle snapped on my way to go out wheeling this weekend. Thankfully it let go as I was pulling into the parking lot to meet up with some other jeeps.
Looks like the Dana 30 swap is on the go...
Can I swap over the brakes and 6-bolt locking hubs from the Dana 27 to the disc brake Dana 30?
The brake swap on the 27 was done as listed in the article from JP magazine, and I would prefer to keep them, as they are bigger (and brand new...).
I ordered the 5.38 ring and pinion for the 30 today, and I am debating on installing an aussie locker or lock-rite - any recommendations?

    Thanks

The brakes you can swap. The locking hubs on the Dana 30 have more splines.

Like Scott said, you can swap over the brakes. Depending on which locking hubs you have you may be able to swap over the drive gears to 27 spline units to fit the 30 axle. You should have 10 spline units. Or keep an eye out for a used set of 27 spline locking hubs or place an ad in the classifieds. Nickmil

let me know how it goes. i am considering swapping my 27a to a 30 with disks. would even mind if it was the wider front for stability. i would need to find a 4.88 set of gears to fit since i already have that ratio now and like it.
