    Hi:
I am looking to purchase a used bell housing. It came out of a 79 CJ 258 motor and a t-18A transmission.
My jeep has a 258 with the A T-150. Will this work for my tranny?

    Thanx!

Can you look at it first? I'm not sure which pattern the '79 T-18 would have had. The T-150 has the distinctive symmetric Ford 'butterfly' pattern. The '79 T-18 could have been either the asymmetric Jeep pattern or the Ford pattern. I think it's most likely the Ford pattern (and depth) ... Nick might know for sure, if he stops by.

The stock bellhousing for that era of T-18 was special. It had the Jeep T-18 bolt pattern on the back but the depth was the same as a T-150/176 bellhousing. Should be able to modify the T-150 bellhousing to work, i.e. redrill and tap. Don't take that as gospel though as I've never actually tried going that way....... Only way to find out is try it.
