    Hello All,

Been awhile since I posted my project startup pics. Just kinda lurking and getting ideas. Looking for suggestions/comments on my project. I have a 1947 Flatty that is nowhere near original restoration worthy. Looking to resto/mod it. I have a collection of various parts.......what's everyone's suggestions?

Dauntless V6 225, SM420, (2) Dana 30's, one with drums, one with discs, Dana 44 centered diff, Dana 20, Dana 18, T90 and partial L134 are the parts I have.

    I was leaning towards V6, SM420, Dana 20, Dana 30 w/discs, Dana 44 centered diff.

    What's everyone think?
    Thanks

Sounds like a great start to me :)
what kind of wheeling do you want to do? you gonna lift it or keep it relatively mild?

I am using a Chevy Inline four, T14 trans., Dana 20, Dana 30 front, centered Dana 44 in the rear. So, if I had your parts I would use the V6, SM420, Dana 20 and Dana 30/centered 44. The Dana 20 is so much quieter than the Dana 18. Escpecially when you have the top on, and it does not wear out the intermediate gear, since nothing is turning in 2 wheel drive. I think you have the perfect combination of parts on hand to make a resto-mod CJ2A. The only change I would make is if you could trade off or sell the SM420 for a SM465, as I think it makes a cleaner and shorter installation. You would what to try and get the most length in your rear drive shaft as possible. Well, I think others will chime in here and give you there opinion? Have fun and keep it as simple as possible.

Thanks for the comments so far,

As far as type of wheeling, just some mild trails, nothing too extreme. Thinking of going with wrangler springs, small lift, 33inch tires.

    Thanks

I'd agree with what you've got. V-6, SM-420, 20 case , 44 rear, 30 disc brakes up front. The only thing I'd change is putting the 18 gears and find the proper Bronco gear to convert the 20 transfer from a 2.03-1 low range to 2.46-1 low range. I'd also twin stick the 20 for more gear options. Nickmil
