I would like to get a yellow vin sticker made for my dash, but it has never had a sticker as long as I have owned it so I don't have the date of manufacture but do have my metal vin tag, So what I need from you guys are your last 5 digits of your vin# and your mfg. date off your yellow sticker so I can make a guess at what date to use on my new sticker. My last 5 Vin #'s are 30763. Are any of you guys close? Thanks for any info, Greg

    Hello,

Sorry I don't have a '73, but I was wondering where you are getting the sticker reproduced from ? I am building a custom dash and would like to still have the sticker on the new one, but I doubt the old sticker will survive any efforts to remove and replace.

I bought a 73 dash at a swap meet, intending to replace my 56 dash with it. Until I found out the steering column notch was different by 3". Before I took it to bodywork class to refinish it, I took some pics, one of the sticker. The last 5 digits are 49197 and the date of manufacture is March, 1973. Hope this helps.

For all you guys who like pics here is the one showing the sticker and its location on the dash.

Wow, thanks for the info guys. Ok, if 73 years were like 74, I compared two 74 #'s and came up with around 7577 jeeps made each month, so if I take tommy b # and compare to mine, It looks like about 2.43 months before his 3/73 date. That is getting me pretty close, tmgr told me how to do this on a previous thread, he is the smart one, I just plugged the numbers in, If I had one more 73 vin and date I could probably get it closer, so post em if you got em! Thanks

My buddy's 73 has a DOM of June 1973. Last five numbers are 71941. As far as '74s go, mine is Oct '73 and the last 5 are 16XXX.

Thanks dvader, with my math I came up with 7581 jeeps a month for 73, almost Identical to the 7577 a month for 74, of course these are approximate, so I came up with 2.43 months before your buddies 3/73, I think I will call mine a 1/73. Sounds better than 12/72. Thanks everyone for your help!

Thanks caveman, that gives me 5 confirmed date of mfg. Can you believe jeep made around 80,000 of these in 73? You would think there would be more of them around today, but I only see a few each summer. I think they are around, but they are all broke down!

Lots of them were rolled, wrecked & totaled. That's why they went to the longer wheelbase CJ7 & eventually canned the CJ5. Basically the same reason you dont see any M151's on the road.

As an aside, while watching news coverage of the Israli/Lebanon/Hesbo conflict, I have noticed the M151 is still in service with the IDF.
