Hi, I am Sgt. Michael Avant. I am still in Iraq but I come home in September. I am looking forward to finishing my baby.(my 74 cj-5)
When I bought this jeep it had a steel body on it. It was rusted really bad. I took the body off and put a fiberglass tub on it. I took off the old ratted soft top and put a Acme fiberglass hardtop and doors. I found one in a junk yard on a 73 cj-5 that was wrecked. Besides needing painting the hardtop and doors are in perfect shape. I put a new windshield frame on my jeep too. It came from Quadratec and is for a 74. The top and doors fit perfect. They seal all the way around except where the door frame meets the windshield frame. The door frame sits right behind the windshield frame when you close the door. There is a small gap between the door frame and the windshield frame. There is nothing on the windshield frame for the door frame to seal against. Am I missing some part that bolts onto the windshield frame that the door frame seals against? Or is the door frame supposed to butt up against the end of the windshield frame? I don't know. I really need some good advice. I don't know what to do about this. Please e-mail me back. Thank You Sgt. Michael Avant

first, welcome to early cj5 sgt:)
second, thank you for your service:flag:
third, what kind of top do you have?
assuming a metal top such as a meyers, there are some metal brackets that bolt to the windshield frame on both sides. these brackets create a sealing surface to the doors where rubber weather strip can be attached.

I don't recall if the Acmeglass top had the extra piece to mate between the windshield and doors... it's been awhile since I've seen one. Sounds like something should be there.
I think there was a thread here not long ago where someone had found some of these pieces for the Meyers steel tops; maybe these would work for you.
Another option may be to find someone with a break and custom-bend some sheet metal to fit that space, see this thread for pics:
