    Anybody ever use these thingys?

I read Mike Boyink's Dr Vern's ad on Vacuum bleeder pump's and agree, it just sucks air around the bleeder screw. These looked good but show only for the 1972 CJ and later. Is the screw thread different on the earlier CJs?

They work great - just match the thread size to your brakes. I got the last ones from Summit.

Take one of the old bleeders with you to the FLAPS and look in the Help! section. They're sheeper that way too... ;)

:iagree: Go get 'em. Well worth not having to yell "Up!---Down!" to the person helping you.

    Yep!:)
I know Advance carries them in the help section. Take one of your old ones in and find one that matches the threads. If they don't have them, do what I do and worry the heck out of the store manager and make statements like "I bet Autozone has them" until he breaks down and orders them for you and gives you a discount.:) :)

just go find them yourself, asking for help on something like this at my local advance is asking to waste an hour or two of your life.

I hear ya there. I am just lucky enough that one of my best friends is the store manager here and is also a certified mechanic and knows all the ways to make something work. Most of the others around here you are just wasting your time asking for help, and they tend to look at me strange when I go straight to their computer, look up my part, and go in the back to get it. I just always tell them I am store manager at another location and they usually never ask anything further. Never worked at auto parts store, but I might as well have as much time as I have spent in them. I grew up driving Fords, so yeah I spent a lot of time at the parts places.:) :)

You should check but the bleeders for the Jeep drums (10" and 9") should be SB1428, whcih is a 1/4-28 thread.

Thanks Mike. I ordered those by deduction, looked at the early CJ sizes and mine looked pretty small so........... :stout:
Summit looked like the best price.

Oh man, I forgot about that. These are all new wheel cylinders. My new "C" shackle bushings were like that, I think English, Metric and Japanese threads, none of the grease fittings would fit.

I'm anal about this, if its tapped in metric ona part this old it goes straight back witha complaint on it being made wrong.
I hate sillymeters, especially threads as there are no metric standards and they can be whatever they want to be.

I have to agree, but it was installed and ready to bleed so I let it go.
