I have stumbled across a 1971 Jeepster: Sport Commando for sale? I have never heard of this and was wondering if anyone has heard of the "Sport" package before? It has a really cool stripe similiar to the Renegade look. I will post a picture in the next post. Thanks!!

Oh, we need more photos there, JP. Use the flash too, it'll light up the shadowed areas.

Is it a good deal? Ya gonna get it?

Actually, the owner sent the picture so I didn't have control over the flash. The other pics are better...since you asked...

Yes, The book I have says in 1971 they made the Hurst version and the SC-1 as special editions. It says the SC-1 were butterscitch colored with a black rallye stripe and actually a 71 1/2 model. It mentions a luggage rack and a high end trim package. They aren't as sought after as the Hurst or anything, but they were only made in 71 1/2 to sell a few extra units before the change in 72. That pic looks butterscotch colored to me with black stripes so thats what I think.

Wow, sledgehammer, you are the bomb!! I can't believe you found this just minutes after I posted. This is a big help! Yes, the luggage rack is still in tact from one of the pics I didn't post. Wow, this forum is great!

We didn't make it to the Jam in TN this year but somebody showed up with a Half Cab version of the SC-1. I don't think that was an option for the HC. Looks like it was originally a hardtop but very nice any way you look at it 8) . There's a picture of it over at the AJC board.

that is a good looking jeepster. defiantely pick it up. the body looks to be intact from the pics. would be a good starting point. also believe it should have saginaw manual steering on it so that is good. Will have the V6. Like everyone said, go get it :)

Oh yeah... and empty your PM box.. i couldnt PM you ;)
