I need to get a set of replacement brake lines for my '56, and I'd like to find some good quality pre-bent ones that are as close to stock originals as possible. Even down to the cloth covering if available. Does anybody have any recommendations? I'm sure several of you have put all new lines on early '5's.

    Thanks!

Just FYI, the "S" lines on the front knuckles I got from Krage and 4WD Hardware required some further bending. All from them has worked, but just sucks that the angles don't line up. HTH

Try these guys. I'm told they are the best. From the Home page click catalog requests, then click the catalog icon. Scroll down to Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth, Jeep, you'll find them there. I think you can get the cloth wrap too.http://www.inlinetube.com/

how about for later ones, with the 'wire' wound around the line?

was this wire wrap used to protect the line from rubbing when running inside the frame or for heat 'protection'?

Thanks Rocky! Since I'll be putting on 11" brakes and Herm's dual m/c kit, I'll have to eliminate the "S" lines on the front knuckles for some flexible hoses and rework the lines off the m/c, but I'm mostly concerned with the steel lines on the axles and how well they'll fit.

i put on a set of SS lines from Krage, correct wire wrap, correct cloth cover where needed, most fit with no mods. 2 needed some revending, able to do with my hands, 1 came with the wrong fittings on it, and there was one line in the kit that did not go anywhere on my jeep:?

overall, not as much work as I expected on a 36 year old vehicle, but some thought and enginuity required. and boy do they add bling:rofl:

My 59 did not have the original "S" landing plates inboard of the 9" drums, but used longer flex lines directly to the slave cylinders. I mimiced the original chassis lines from stock NAPA brake line (only needed one male to male splice for the long one).

    Still a work in progress.

    Bought a set from Walck's.

    Didn't use the "S" as I had 11" drums.

Seems like one line didn't fit, so I substituted the old one in for it.

Ah-ha! Now I remember, I had 11" drums so I didn't use the "S" line. Carl took my order over the phone of course so I didn't need a PN, the man just knew. ;)

Yes I liked them. The line that didn't fit was the line that crossed over on the front crossmember to the passenger side front axle. I can't remember why it didn't fit though. But for the rest of 'em it was worth the $$$.
