Give me your opinions on wheel color for the old rigs like my '57.
    White or black?

I have a hard time with cosmetic issues like this you see. R)

I prefer white. Black just always looks dirty to me..(sorry Sparky...;)) And I don't like how in pictures black wheels just become black wheel and tire blurbs..

I don't like black(looks like you lost a hub cap). Dull silver(argent) or grey(battleship) gives good contrast. Body color looks good on some colors. And have grown fond of contrasting colors like red orange or yellow on certain ones. And of course white or off white. Since you asked;)

I'm thinking it's called "Glacier White", or something like that. Pure white wouldn't look right, IMO, but the glacier white is a little "darker",or off-white kinda. Goes well with all colors. That's what I'm going with on my '56, with stock 16x4.5" Willys wheels and NDT tires, either 7.00x16 or 6.00x16, whichever is correct for 4.5" wheels, and President Red paint.

Red and white, can't beat it!

I have white now but if I paint the Jeep white they'll be red or if I paint it red then they'll be white or if I paint it green they'll be white. Easy right?

On the cj5's I prefer white, if its a flat fender I like some of the original colors like the tan, white and I think the other ones I've seen were some kind of dark green.

If your looking for the stock look, go off white.

I like red or white for stock wheels on depending on what color the body is. I only like black if it is on wider wagon wheels on lifted Jeeps, but of course in this case I might go chrome instead.

:iagree: I always liked the early CJ2A's in the green with yellow wheels, the "John Deere" look.

The original color was a cream color. White w/ tan thrown in. Naturally that's not the correct term but that is what it looked like.

When I bought my CJ5 the wheels were Ford "Wimbleton White", The standard Ford off white they've been using since who flung the chunk (Louis Lamour). That's the color I'm going with when I repaint them. I don't like the refrigerator white you see on some spoked aftermarket wheels. So I guess I vote for off white.
