    I took both propeller shafts off to replace all 4 u-joints and now I cant remember whech end of the telescoping drive shafts go. If I recall correctly, the telescoping ends is closer to the axle and away from the transfer case...correct?>
    65 CJ5 d27 and d44 w/d18 transfer case
    Please bail me out.....

    Mine were the other way around? Did the P/O install backwards? wouldn't it be better to have that up higher out of mud the angle would be the same on the universal right.

    While it doesn't specifically say it, the FSM shows both shafts with the slip joint closer to the xfer case. Oddly enough, the pic I used for reference is in the brake section.....

    {whistling out loud}
    rear shaft has slip at the t/case end
    front shaft has slip at the front axle end
    {whistling and walking away}
    can of worms, anyway......

    it if works, it's right ;)
    seems the discussion always centered about keeping the front slip up higher out of the mud, premature wear
    out here, that's not a problem :)
    I really don't think it matters :D
