Calling All F4 Overhaul Experts

I really would be happy to do it! I think you know the answer to the question........yes. I made the same mistake myself , dont feel bad The pics are over in OX Creek.I'll get a hold of Brad and get them. I installed the tappets then the cam and rotated the cam to a flat to put the springs and keepers on.

 

Just out of curiosity, was there any welding done to the block? just saw some shiny spots around the valves? in the pic of that rod. 1/8" is a common electrode size...

Haven't torn one down yet, but even I don't think that should be there. Something got dropped down inside.

 

Crap. Now I'm gonna hafta find a spring compressor someplace .

Actually I didn't try putting the cam in yet, for some reason it just occured to me that it might be a problem, was kinda hoping I was wrong on that

I'm probably going to put the engine reassembly on hold for a bit anyhow, warmer weather is here, that means it's soon time to start on the body. Before I tie the garage up with that I want to get the chassis finished off & rolling so I'm pretty much out of time for engine & drivetrain work until late fall

Yeah, about 8-9 years ago there was a burnt valve, they replaced the seat on #3 but had to weld up a couple of cracks around the seat area as well, I think they actually had to fix cracks on both 2 & 3 from the lokks of things.

Good idea, but how in 8 4 12 12 would a piece of rod get into an oil gallery ???
