Steering play

3" of play? i would ONLY have 3" on a good day. mine (stock steering never rebuilt) has atleast 1/3 of a turn before it grabs. you should see me trying to drive it on the hiway...

 

same here....but mine is only about 1/4 turn. I do pretty well on the highway though, the trick is keeping it one side of play or the other (based on road curvature, wind, etc). Highly scientific process

 

lol..you should have seen me running down i-95 from maine to boston @85 mph. my arms were a blur trying to keep it strait. its sloppy BIG time.. but, i am switching to a d30 from a '72 and getting power steering to boot. so itll drive alittle straiter. but having all that play sux, cause yer whees get a head start following the ruts and the yank your hands. hurts sometimes. and yes, VERY scientific...NAWT!..lol
