Were the 8in stock for the Renegade package? Seems the regular CJs had smaller rims.
I'm looking for the solid KH style rims, if possible....td

What Jeff said, they came on the Ren I.

There's TONS of discussion on these wheels in three sections of the forum, flattie, here and Intermediates. Not much reason to rehash it all. They won't fit over 11" brakes or disk calipers without spacers.

Thanks Sparky but I didn't see anything about the prices being asked when I did the search. What models have the 11" drums? Is that an issue with my '70 CJ5?

Make him an offer. Yes, even at the BIN price it's decent.

No your Jeep should have 10" drums, but if you plan to upgrade just beware of fitment problems.

Thanks again Sparky. Would 8in rims cause problem with the side spare carrier? All that is on my CJ is this which looks like a bump stop. Sorry for the focus. Would the side carrier work with a BesTop Supertop & the tub rails?

I assume you're planning on re-attaching the tire carrier? 'Cause there's no carrier in this picture, and it looks like the holes for the carrier have been removed (welded up or bondo'ed over).

    What Tim said.

I don't know. These wheels came on a rear swing out tire carrier from the factory on the Ren I.

On my '69 I've got the same bumpstop with no carrier, holes bondoed over. But it has the 15x8" wheels. Someone here might know for sure. I'm guessing that with the backspacing it might work?

I prefer to go to the side mount even if it means drilling the hole for the carrier & going to smaller wheels - really like that look.

I don't know the backspacing comparison, but I mounted the 33 x 10.50 on 8" rims swampers on my CJ5 and they were almost flush with the body so chances are you'd be ok. Might have to space the mount out a bit.

Those wheels are dished pretty deep, I can't imagine that they'd present a problem is what I was getting at.

Not to get too off topic but,,,what is that bump stop? I have one and it baffles me. Maybe a tie down?

What Timgr said. Helps keep flex and rattling of the tire and mount to a minimum.

The side spare tire carriers are what you need to run into trees with in tight squeezes, because, of course the early cj's don't have right side rear view mirrors. If you don't have the side mount, you might pass right by trees and fence posts without leaving a mark on anything or damaging the right side of the tub.

Seriously the only reason the cj5 had the side mount tire carrier was to allow access to the tailgate. The only reason to keep it there is if you are wanting to restore to factory original, otherwise you would be better off putting on a swing away tire carrier many of which are available on the aftermarket.

I covered my side mount holes with fiberglass/bondo years ago because I was tired of looking at the many wrinkles from me hitting the previously mentioned trees and fence posts. The side mounts are a pain the rear.

Added: by the way here is a craigslist ad for renegade wheels if you want to compare:

I've had jerry cans mounted at the side mount, had a problem with people who weren't paying attention destroying my cans. Pretty nice if you pay attention in tight spots IMHO.
