'53 M38-A1 with 80's era Buick 231 V-6. I have a set of Adavanced Adapters headers bolted on. Right now I'm working with the stock Ross setup, but I'm wondering about going to the manual saginaw steering. What kind of problems will I run into with the header pipes, if any? Anyone tried this with my particular setup?

Searched the forums here and didn't quite find anything on it, but then again, looks like similar questions have been asked and I had about 1.3 million posts to look though... :)

It's been discussed, I think the AA headers and Saginaw shaft combination do experience some interference...I don't recall the details. Maybe someone else does :?
I seem to recall that the problem is not insurmountable :?

as long as the headers exit outside the frame, shouldn't be a problem
the motor mount and front crossmember pose the most challenge
some go thru the mount, some over and some under
    whatever works for your situation

    What Jim said.
I've got AA headers on the CJ-5 with a 231 with no issues and AA headers on the race Jeep with a 4.3 and M38a1 frame and no issues with the steering shaft. Both are outside the frame rail types. I had to notch the motor mount on the driver's side for the shaft but had no issues with the front crossmember. My motor frame mounts were home-made and a little oversized though. Nickmil.
