Welcome from Carthage Texas. Glad to see another jeep-er from Texas in the group.

Brake drums are a real pain. I pulled, beat then pry-ed (as well as prayed) and then repeated it a few time and they came off. Seemed like a constant tapping on around the drum with a ball peen hammer while my helper pulled is what made them come off. Wear some kind of a dust mask while working around with those old asbestos brake shoes. As you know the dust is not good for you to breath.

The next jeep I took it to the brake shop. And smiled to myself as I left.

    Doug,
The Jeep Factory Service Manual (FSM) is an absolute MUST for any Jeep owner, and yes it does run ~ $40. Worth its weight in Jeepin' gold. Chilton's has a somewhat-helpful manual, but your $$ is better spent w/ a reproduction of the FSM. Total I have 8 or 9 diffo manuals, lol. Don't become like me.

Interesting prefix, "8122"...I've gotta look that one up.

Moses Ludels book on rebuilding a CJ is a very valuable tool also. Mr. Ludel puts things in easy to understand terms and has clear pictures on lots of the common tasks we face rebuilding these puppies.
