Made a trade tonight with fellow ECJ5 member Jimmyhat, who lives here in Denver. I went to look at a grill he has for sale, and ended up lusting over his windshield. He said he didn't really want it for the trail rig he's building, and offered to trade if mine was any good. So's I said "Hell yeah!"

Mine was in very good shape for 50 years old and his was in comparable shape except for broken glass (hey, flat windshield glass can't cost that much), no rust, no damage, and all the parts are there and operable.:) Except all the wipers are on both frames are trash.

I've never driven a Jeep with one of these, but I think the "cool factor" has gotta be high,8) I'm tickled anyway. I can always pick up another regular frame, or a repop, but how many of these do you stumble over?

    My original....

Bummer! What happened is, I uploaded them to Photobucket into the wrong album, but then posted them here from that album and afterwards moved them at Photobucket into the right album. Guess I shouldn't do that.

I'll try to fix it or just repost. Thanks Hippo!

I have to get one of those.
I found an original bed extender, have a jeep trailer and am working on a duelly conversion. That would complete my jeep.

Great trade! Guess I must be living right . . . the windshield that came with my '53 M38A1 is the same type (I knew it to be a civvie, as it is painted black, not OD). Luckier still, it has all the parts. I'll try to get pics posted to Blog & linked. Here's my Blog address in the meantime . . .

Fate & Opportunity seem to give me my share of sh!t sandwiches, but occaisionally they will smile and give me a big tub of Ben & Jerry's!

How many other people do you know that have had the 1st vertebrae in their neck broken in two, and walked away from it with no ill effects? That was 25 years ago.

Ron, do you know if the rubber gasket for the non-venting windshield works for the venting windshield? I need to replace the gasket on mine, as it is the original & in sad shape.

I don't know for sure, but I highly doubt it. My venting w/s doesn't look anything like the old standard one did, as far as the gaskets and glass mounting go. I think the frame to cowl gasket is the same.

When I go to rebuild it, I'm going to try the usual suspects for parts, Walck's, Beachwood Canvas, etc.
