Hmmm. I've always relagated the driveway for the "dirty work", and even the new homes here in AZ don't have garage drains. The floors are slightly inclined to allow water to drain down into the street via the driveway. I've never lived anyplace cold enough to have to worry about heat in the garage, so I'll humbly defer to your experience.....

I know a guy who used to do that to his AT tires. He claimed it made the mud fly off easier. It seemed to work, didn't make his ATs MTs but it did a decent job.

Up here in northern New England, the roads are white with salt about six months per year.

For rustproofing, the old timers use a garden sprayer (or undercoat gun from JC Whitney) to apply used oil to their underbodies and frames, then drive down a dusty road. Soaks into the nooks and crannies. Easy to clean off any overspray. Repeat annually. Don't tell the EPA.

    Good Luck,

    Pete

    Duke54,

They say bar-and-chain oil sticks well, too. Cut with a little kerosene, and sprayed on hot. I'm in central NH.

I took a trip on my Harley through your town (Jackman Maine) one Labor Day weekend. 105 degrees Friday afternoon, frost(!) the next morning. I recall being VERY grateful for some hot coffee and pancakes at the diner there!
