new wipers do not fit

I purchased new wipers from 4wd but the shaft is too long. The angle brackets are dead center where the shaft comes out for the motor arm shaft. The angle brackets are for when you drop the winshield down onto the hood. Anybody have a clue what I am talking about?

Sounds like you may have got some generic "one size fits all" type motors. It's common on those to have to cut the threaded portion down and the shaft down to the length you need. Kind of a pita. Nickmil.
