Yep, filled every snap hole in my Jeep (about 100) in about 4 hours, taped it off the next day and primed it. Did that about 8 years or so ago when I put the supertop on. Wouldn't even hesitate to fill screw holes from flares, I could do the whole thing in a weekend no problem.

I don't have the time nor the will to fill all those holes. Then trying to paint it and have it match would be a p.i.t.a. to say the least... I actually kinda like the flares from a utilitarian standpoint, they keep a lot of the mud off the sides of the Jeep. I like the flares Mike has on his '6 a lot better than mine, guess I'll have to look for some of those.

Well sure...if you're already in the middle of paint/body work it's one thing, but would you have if your Jeep was sitting there with a nice shiny paint job on it already?

As opposed to running plastic flares, then my answer is yes. I hate the damned things.

    33x10.50's get my vote.

And since there seems to be a second poll going on about the flares - I'm not a fan either. Would I fill all the holes if there were already on a Jeep with a nice paint job? I doubt it. But I'd sure complain about them all the time! :D

    Guess I'm just too lazy.

I can't see taking the flares off Linus and filling the holes much as I'd like too. The paint is shiny. Faded in a couple spots and it's a funny orange that's not common. Too much effort.

I got flares on my 5. Ain't taking them off and filling cause I don't like mud in my face. And that's what happens when they're not on there.

    I'm running 33 x 12.50 & they are fantastic.

    If I had to choose between 33 x 10.50 or 34 x 9.50 I would go with the

    33 x 10.50.

I had to put on flare to keep some of the mud off of me and the inside of the windshield. I prefer the look of no flares but form follows funtion - if you're in the mud you need 'em. One the hardest things I ever did was drill all those holes but it had to be done & I don't regret it.

Alrighty, if I counted right we have 8 votes for the 34's and 7 for the 33's... I figured there would have been a bigger margin :)
    Still undecided...............................

I vote for the taller tire. I currently have P235x75-15 bias ply tires  on Shaggy. They are 10" wide by 29 1/2" high. I intend to change over to radials so I am very interested in this thread. I also have a 283 and 4.88's. I would like the taller of the two tires discussed. Can anyone measure the height of their tires and post them here? I take it that the width is the widest part of the tire and not the tread width. Correct? I understand from an earlier post that the height designation is not necessarily the actual installed height of the tire.

My Jeep had the flares and I took them off and filled the holes and painted them. I couldn't stand the flares at all.

It is funny, but I am torn on the same tire sizes but leaning towards the 33x10.50's only for the amount of highway driving I do.

Well, I ordered the 33x10.50's today. Thanks all for your input. I'll post back after I have a chance to test them come springtime :)
