I have a 62 cj-5 that is down to the frame. It came with the Koenig pto winch on it. I have obtained a Borg-Warner "Rancho" overdrive with the thought of putting it on. Has anybody done that and what was the experience?

    Thanks,

If it is going very smoothly, something is very wrong!!!:D

The Koenig winch is no problem as it is pretty much bolt up. You may want to take a close look at the Borg-Warner overdrive. It replaces the rear output on the 18 transfer case and it is quite long which means rear drive shaft will be very short. These were used primarily on longer wheel base Jeeps, i.e. Willys Wagons and Pu's. They aren't that strong, only work in two wheel drive, and parts can be difficult to find. I worked with Herm Tilford on one Saturday (Herm the overdrive guy). He can get many of the parts for those. I believe he said he'd found a source for the solenoids finally. It usually takes about 5 of those to put one good one together. Nickmil.
