I need to mount my steering box to the frame on my Jeep and I'd like to mount it higher on the frame than I did on my old Jeep with the Mcruff mount. Can anyone tell me (or show me with some pics) how the AA mount goes on?

I am going to remove the original front frame crossmember and replace it with one made of steel tubing (probably 2x2). Ideally, the crossmember would sit as low as possible in the "C" so the steering shaft could pass over it. If not, I could always run the shaft through a hole in the crossmember but I'd like to avoid it if possible.

Another thought is to use Herm's setup but I don't know how it would work with the 4.3 engine mounts. I'd rather not be the guinea pig here...

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

Why not take McRuff mount and move it higher? It's just location. If you have the back issue of JP that showed the Hatari CJ-6 series they used the AA mount and had good pics. Sorry I don't have a pic of the AA mount as I always build my own except for the one's I bought from Mike as he had them made up already and they are very nice. Don't forget to keep an eye on your drag link angle when you move the steering box up or you could have bump steer issues (but you already knew that!:D ). Nickmil.

I forgot exactly how the mount was set up. Looking at Joel's pictures, it shouldn't be too hard to do just that.

If your lookin at the AA mounts - look at my steering pic in the saginaw posts for the fab section as a referance...

Personally, I would just mod the McRuff setup.
