I've been thru two of them from Advance Auto and neither one worked! One physically looked the same, but the ports for the lines were the wrong size, the other had the front/ rear ports reversed. Can anyone give me a good P/N for a '71 with factory 10" brakes and lines? TIA.

I ran the P/N's and they are the same (by pics) as what I may need to return. Are there adapters that will let me step a 3/8" factory brake line up to the 1/2" hole size in the M/C? Is that even a safe practice?

I'd check your FLAPS Chris. Even the crappy chain stores usually have a rack of the little drawers full of adapters and fittings. And yes, it is safe to go this route, as long as you don't put any copper tubing into the system! ;)

Perfectly acceptable to adapt lines with the right fittings. The front to rearports being reversed is no biggy as the factory's are wrong anyway. There was a thread on this back in may or june this year where it was discussed at length. Its not an issue unless you use the MC for disk brakes, then it becomes a problem. Check for the residual pressure valves, if it doesn't have them you'll need them. Thats probably whats wrong with the fitting size is the RPV's are missing and it leaves the holes large.

I tried 3 different ones from advance and auto zone, all had the ports reversed from the stock jeep position, so I rebent my lines to fit. they all three had larger ports, advance sold me a set of brass adapters made for them, only problem I had with them is the adapter sticks out about 1/2 inch from the side of the MC

That's what I wound up doing. Right after I started bleeing the brakes, fluid started coming out of the top of the front brake switch! So, today I need to find a new switch, probably no hope in finding one with the built-in bracket that bolts to the frame... (my wife says it's teaching me patience! )
