Jeez, I guess even I get to be right about sumptin sumptimes:)

Unfortunately you'll have to pull the flywheel to fix it:( If you want anymore detail on how I fixed Tonk's let men know, it's not hard- you just need to know the trick-

    Awww- Who Blabbed??

Actually it involves a freezer & an oven set to 350*. I'd be worried about heating the ring with a torch, too much heat in one spot & the metal could loose it's temper. Plus I didn't have a torch then.

I used a hammer & punch to get the ring off initially, worked my way around moving it off a little bit at a time.

On Tonka's the teeth were only worn down on the front edge, I'm guessing that the bendix doesn't go back far enough to totaly enguage the ring teeth. Once I had the ring off, the flywheel went in the deep freeze for 24 hours. The next day the ring gear went into the oven for half an hour (Don't forget to occaisionaly baste with 30W motor oil :) ).

When I went to put them back togeather I of course screwed up, yes, I put the $&^&$#$ thing back on the same way it came off:oops:

Thankfully it seems to take a few minutes for everything to shrink/expand, I had enough time to notice the mistake & flip the ring around "backwards". As I said before I also rotated it around 90* from where it was "just in case".

    Good luck,

    H.
