If you've thought about a MSD box for your odd fire stop thinking and DO IT! Wow. What a difference, it's like HEI on top of already having HEI.

I guess I'm going to have to dig mine out of the garage and hook it up to the Mallory dual point then. I bought the MSD new about 8 years ago and have never installed it.

It's easy enough to do hook up. Hardest part was mounting it. R)

    Part# MSD 6A, Odd-Fire V6
    PN 6246
The unit looks like this Alan:[IMG]
For those that do not know MSD started out making these units, the name stands for Multiple Spark Discharge or MSD. The unit takes the signal from the ignition pulse and instead of sending one spark to the plugs in a specific amount of time its sends dozens of sparks at a set amount of time and also controls the dwell thru the electronics if you have a pointed ignition. This burns the fuel better, gives a steadier idle and usually gives better mileage on pointed ignitions because of better burn qualities. They do work and virtually any decent drag car will have one on it.

So what's involved in hooking one of these up (wiring, etc...)?

Sounds good! How much $$? Do you need HEI w/ it, or was that just a comparison? And where did it mount?

It will hook up to a pointed or electronic ignition like the HEI or pertonixs. It takes some minor wiring to hook up a pig tail and then just plug it in.
Most people mount it on the fender. The unit is about 3" square by about 8-9" long.

    Mounted it to my firewall.

Camera batts dead, charging now. :)

Plug 'n Play all the way. As Mcruff said, it works with pointed or HEI systems either one.

Jegs has new ones for ~$150, I didn't see the Odd Fire model there though, guessing they'd have it if you call.

You can check to see if its cracked real easy. R)
Have you run it at night with no light under the hood yet?
It'll show bad wires or cap.
We had one a HEMI car that bit me a few times.

    ;)
Spring for an Accel or MSD cap and wires.
Guessing they both make the V6 cap still. :?

    Here's pics.

The wiring is a rat's nest right now. I'll be tidying that up today.

Also shown is my oil bath air filter. Thanks to Mudweiserjeep for that. :)
