as long as the pitman arm has not been modified (re-drilled, reverse taper, etc) then the tie rods ends will work (yours or herms) no problem.

Depending on the pitman arm that is on the steering box, GM apparently used 2 different sized tie rods to attach to the pitman arm, I was told that they were all the same but found out the taper is the same but that the major and minor diameter on the tie rod taper is different by about 3/64", project71-5 (Joe Klosterman) were the same as mine, I made a brass tapered sleeve to fit over the tierod to take up the slack sent one to Joe also. You can't really tell by eyeball, but it will become apparent when the tierod fails to tighten all the way up when the castle nut is bottomed out.

is this the different ford and jeep pitmans that herm mentions?? i thought it would be weird for the pitmans on the two to be somewhat different, but the ford is most definately larger. didn't check the one that came with the box though, it seemed to tighten up just fine...

I don't know, the box I have came off of a Pontiac and it had the larger of the 2 diameters in the pitman. I looked around the internet and fouind a couple of different dimensions so I checked and sure enough GM used 2 differents sizes on there own cars.

I've found that some GM cars also had a pitman arm with a smaller than Jeep tie rod end going into the pitman arm. Had to ream them out to fit. Fortunately have access to the proper ream. Unfortunately I can't remember exactly what year or model, but was definitely GM as I pulled the box off myself. Nickmil.
